The Dunne Group was contracted by the Hotel Association of PEI in 2021, to administer a program to incentivize new and extended accommodation stays using $100 Canada’s Food Island gift cards. Collaborating with a working group, Dunne Group was responsible for accommodation partner recruitment and approvals; managing card distribution, registrations, activations and unused card recovery and reconciliation; responding to consumer card queries and card activation issues; and providing ongoing status reports.
Between the spring and fall editions of the program, more than 200 accommodation partners across Prince Edward Island participated in the program with thousands of gift cards being distributed. In the face of COVID-19 travel fears and periods of non-essential travel advisories, the initiative was highly successful in generating new accommodation stays between visitors and Islander staycations with immediate card utilization rates of 75% at Island restaurants, retail stores and attractions.
